Baby! Vintage Marketplace! Altered Peat Pots!

Hello Friends!

Life has been very exciting around here!
The much awaited, anticipated Baby Colton is here!
Not without some drama and scares,
but Baby and Mama are now doing great!
They live about 1 1/2 hrs. from me,
so I have been going up about twice a week
to feed the parents, tidy up and revel in my new grandson!
Boys are new territory for me,
having had two girly girls,
but my heart is so full when I'm with him:

I know!!
He is a such a good baby as well!
Loving the whole Grandmother thing.

The fabulous Vintage Marketplace in Southern California
was held the first weekend in March.
I love it, it's so inspiring, a great shopping opportunity,
and a chance to catch up with some favorite vendors.
Here's a brief tour:

A closer look at the lovely ladies:

Fairy garden magic:

And of course it was a lovely day.
Looking forward to the June show!

I have been involved in a number of swaps lately, as well!
Here is an altered peat pot I made for my Paper Soiree group:

Covered the pot in a little French text papers, a little lace and a little burlap.
The bird is a wood shape which I covered in text,
on a wood birdcage, which was stamped in brown ink with a text stamp.
I was not able to attend the meeting, but I was delighted to receive
this adorable peat pot created by Michelle:

I love the fabric wrapped wire, and the twig with the birdie on it,
thanks so much Michelle!
I have another peat pot to share,
but I want to wait til my partner receives it,
plus more swap fun to share with you,
so please check back soon :)

Hope Spring is making its way to you,
especially to those of you who have suffered a harsh winter!

World Traveller Baby Shower!!

Hello Friends!

My wonderful daughter Jackie and wonderful son-in-law Sean
are expecting a new arrival any day now,
and a shower in their honor was held Jan. 25.

Being world travelers themselves,
and as that is the theme of the nursery,
they wanted a world traveler/airplaine theme for the shower.
I had so much fun making these decorations for them!

This wreath created from vintage maps, paper yoyos
and a chipboard wreath form I got for a song
at Michaels' after Christmas sale:

This collection of giant rosettes is about 4 ft. x 2 ft.
A festive photo op. :)

An OH BABY banner created from vintage maps.
The letters are on circles which are on pleated rosettes
which are on flattened cupcake liners
that I ran through the Vagabond and cut with a scalloped die.

 The dessert table:
We found little airplane cookies on Etsy,

and little globe chocolates on Amazon.
A friend of my daughter's made the "globe" cupcakes
and chocolate Eiffel tower pops!

This is a group photo of everyone...
Does it look like a nice sunny day in Southern California?
It was in the 80s!  Jan. 25th!
You can see my pom pom garland in the background.
I had a rope and attached the pompoms with ribbons,
as well as some paper lanterns and paper fans and honeycomb orbs.
Also hung some ribbon streamers.
This was actually more work than I had thought it would be,
and that rope got really heavy once we hung all the stuff on it.
I had wanted to wrap map garlands around it
as well and attach some map circle streamers,
but it got late and we were tired, and just called it good!

Me and my two darling daughters:
My adorable younger daughter Alison came from NYC
to take part and share the joy.

For favors we gave these little plantable seed bombs
that look like little globes.

Well, if you squint your eyes...;)
They are made from a pulp and seeds,
so you can plant them and they will grow into wildflowers.

Packaged them up pretty and put them in this little suitcase
with a Thank You  banner.

Wish I had more pictures, the food was lovely and fit the international theme:
 spanakopita/Greece, egg rolls/China, meatballs/Italy, gazpacho/Spain, and lots more.

It was a wonderful day with wonderful people!
I am so proud of Jackie and Sean for doing all they had to do
to make their dream (baby) come true.

Here's your freebies...baby-themed, of course :)
