Black and White Halloween! Freebies!

Hello Friends!

I love the idea of a black and white Halloween,
so I thought I'd have a little fun today
and challenge myself to make this a (mostly) black and white post.

Starting with this little spoolie doll I made last year:

This is a pic I took last year of NYC Anthrolopologie's October decor:

From my Pinterest board:

I took this photo last Fall in a mystery book store in New Hampshire:

From last year's NE trip:

Ironic and spooky!

and

Mini marshmallows, pretzel sticks and white chocolate!

Paris! Freebies!

Hello Friends!

OK, just a few tiny more pictures of Paris,
and then we'll move on!  :)

I found another pic I had taken in my fave Mathilde M. boutique:
Here at Chez Odette you can get mini-cream puffs in several different flavors,

each represented by it's own adorable vintage French girl:

The beautiful fountain in the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg
(Luxembourg Gardens):

A sentimental picture...I lived in this building once upon a time!
It was so fun to walk around the old neighborhood!

Beautiful fountain:
Notre Dame on a beautiful summer day:
Well, this looks a lot like Anthropologie:

But it's not!!  Just a lovely French housewares boutique!

The beautiful department store, Galeries Lafayette:

There is no denying the French do things beautifully.
 I do love Paris,
and I was already planning our next trip there as soon as we got back!
(More Paris and Provence pictures here and here.)

And I do have some more creations to share with you:

These are two ribbon and lace paper dolls I made for a Paper Soiree swap:

And I'm really a novice at jewelry making,
but I didn't let it stop me from making this bird's nest necklace
for a swap at Marie Antoinette:

I weaved the "nest" using lace and fabrics
which I stitched to buckram. The chain is made up of a few
different pieces, old and new.  And I added some birdies and sparkly gems.

I wanted to come up with a fun presentation that was quick and easy!
So I just laid down various washi tapes onto the lid of a jewelry box.
And added a chalkboard sticker.

Hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer.
Although I don't know why I say that,
there's still technically almost a month of summer left,
and it's in the 80s during the day here in San Diego.
But the nights are cooler, it's breezier,
and it just seems that the Labor Day weekend
is more the mark of the end of summer.

November! Birthday swap! Leaf Peeping! Anthropologie!

Hello Friends!

It's November!

I really need to make this blog post today
to keep my hands busy
because I'm home...
all alone...
with the leftover Halloween candy!!  :O

I recently participated in a swap
for the first time at Swap for All Seasons.
It's a monthly swap, with monthly themes and colors.
You make a card, a tag, and a bag of themed goodies!

This month's theme was "Birthday"
and the color was November Brown!
What a fun challenge!
The card I made:

And my tag:

I just received my package today from my swap partner,
and I will post pics next week.

Just a few pics from my leaf peeping trip to New England:

These pics were taken in Lexington, MA.
I was afraid we would miss the peak season again,
especially since we went later this year than usual.
But no, I think we hit it just right!
Peak foliage is a complicated mix of summer rainfall, sunny/cloudy days,
daytime/nighttime temperatures, even windy days.
Last year there was a big rainy, windy storm just before we arrived,
which pretty much shook all the leaves off the trees. :(
But this year was sweet.

Then a stop in NYC for a few days.
Anthropologie, I love you, but wha???

These "rocks" are sculpted paper and painted:

I guess it's their riff on the Natural History Museum, but...

The ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center was up and running:

And, I risked getting reprimanded by taking this pic of a Marie Antoinette era
dress at the Metropolitan Museum of Art:

Like I'm not going to take a picture of that!
Its not super clear because I had to act fast! :)

Anthropologie NYC

And what's a trip to NYC without a visit to Anthropologie?
I just love their ever-changing window decorations and in-store decor. This year's theme seemed to be an icy/frosty one... Fairly minimal for Anthro... Love this outfit, though... Ah, this is more like it... And inside the store,
paper discs edged with glitter,
stacked and hung from the ceiling... I probably won't be trying this at home, though ;)

Further down the block I spied this cute little coat made from "newsprint":

And this fabulous shoe wreath!!

I probably won't be trying that at home either! LOL

Here's a couple of wintery white freebies for you:

Is it winter white where you are?
It's 80 degrees here...
