Easter and Earthquakes

Easter morning we headed up to lovely San Juan Capistrano and went to mass at the mission basilica. Look at this beautiful alter:

We had champagne brunch at the historic El Adobe Restaurant and back to the kids' house in San Clemente, where my daughter insisted on dressing her cat in Easter finery:

Then the shaking began. It takes a moment or two for you to realize that yes, it IS an earthquake. We all quickly headed for doorways, the shaking continued, so we all headed outside. Lots of people in the street. You just never know when it's going to be the big one. The quake's center was near Mexicali, about 100 miles from San Diego. And it WAS a big one, 7.2. There were lots of aftershocks, including a 5.3 temblor, which is also pretty big. At home, a few things fell off a shelf, and a picture on the wall was askew. So far, so good.
